30 Years For Holding Hostages In Logan County

Logan County

A Logan County man is going to prison for 30 years after robbing a drug store and holding workers and customers inside hostage with a gun.
U.S. District Judge Joseph Goodwin handed down the sentence Tuesday in the case against 31-year-old Geoff Harvey of Logan.
Harvey went into Family Discount Pharmacy last November, fired a shotgun and demanded Lortabs and Xanax. He then took several pills and became drowsy. One of the hostages took advantage of Harvey's sedation and managed to get the weapon away from him.
Goodwin sentenced Harvey to four years and three months following a guilty plea of robbery involving controlled substances and 25 years and nine months for using a firearm during a crime of violence. The judge ordered the time be served consecutively.
Harvey has been in custody since his arrest last year.
