The West Virginia Convention of Southern Baptists wants a marriage protection amendment added to the West Virginia constitution. The Convention passed a resolution Friday in Parkersburg calling for its membership to push for the amendment.
California, Arizona, and Florida passed similar changes to their constitutions during their General Elections on Tuesday. The Convention says 30 states in all have passed an amendment defining marriage as between one man and one woman.
The West Virginia Convention of Southern Baptists and other Christian leaders in the state recently sent a letter to Governor Joe Manchin calling for that amendment in a special session of the Legislature. They say 80 pastors have signed that letter.
