Several hundred angry taxpayers braved the rain for Charleston's Tea Party on Thursday in protest of the direction Congress and the Obama Administration has taken

Hundreds of state residents say they've been silent for too long and it's time to make some noise about the direction of the country. They turned out for TEA Parties Wednesday in several communities.

TEA, Taxed Enough Already, took place nationwide in an estimated 700 locations including a large crowd on the north side of the state capitol in Charleston.

Residents chanted, "No More! No More!" when they were reminded of the taxes they pay on everything from their grocery bills to their cable bills.

The rally also drew residents from surrounding states.

Chris Cox of Russell, Kentucky says Charleston was a shorter drive for him than the rally in Frankfort, Kentucky. He says what Congress is doing now will impact his four children in the future. "It's reckless spending and it seems like it's a constant campaign season and it's whatever they can do to get elected," he said.

Huntington resident Terri Twowig says it's never good when an economy prints money with nothing to back it. "I'm very concerned that we are looking at working hard, paying out big money and our children aren't going to have any future," she said.

Twowig says it's not to late for what has been the silent majority in America to respond. "We can vote these people out and put somebody in that wants to listen to us," she said. "Don't take my money and give it. I'll take my money and give it."

Ashland, Kentucky resident Bernice Thacker says she drove to Charleston and stood in the rain because she loves her country. "I don't want our government spending our kids, our grandchildren, their money," she said. "It's silly and it's stupid how much spending is going on in Washington."

Organizers of the TEA Party say they invited members of the West Virginia Congressional Delegation to attend, but none came and only two, Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito and Congressman Nick Rahall, bothered to reply.

TEA Parties were also scheduled in Morgantown, Parkersburg, Beckley, Charles Town and Wheeling.
