An accident on I-79 in Pennsylvania claims the life of an Upshur County teenager.
Pennsylvania State Police say 19-year old Stephanie Warner of Buckhannon died Wednesday night when she lost control of her car, crossed the median, and struck a semi head-on.
The wreck happened in Greene County, Pennsylvania just north of Morgantown. Troopers say Warner was not wearing a seat belt. The trucker was not hurt.
Also on Wednesday in Braxton County, a four-car pile up on I-79 claimed the lives of two people. West Virginia State Police say it happened about 5:30 p.m. just north of Burnsville. A female driver headed south crossed the median and hit three other cars traveling in the northbound lanes.
The collision killed the driver and a driver of one of the northbound cars. At least one other driver in the accident suffered serious injuries and was flown by HealthNet to Ruby Memorial Hospital.
Authorities believe the driver who started the accident may have fallen asleep at the wheel. The crash closed the northbound lanes for about a half-hour Wednesday afternoon. None of the victims’ names have been released.
