Damage At Burnsville Dam
Staff
Huntington

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says there's been vandalism and theft during the past week at Burnsville Dam and surrounding areas.

The Corps is seeking the help of the public after someone broke into the fenced compound around the dam in Braxton County either last Tuesday or Wednesday.

Two windows in a Braxton County Sheriff's Dept. cruiser were broken out, an AR-15 rifle with scope; police radios, a Tazer gun and other equipment were stolen.

The Corps also reports vandalism at the Left Fork Picnic Area above Burnsville Dam. The damage to a restroom is estimated at $500.

Anyone with information on either incident is asked to contact Corps Watch toll-free at 1-866-413-7970. Callers can remain anonymous.
