Mountaineer Madness Hits Morgantown
MetroNews
Morgantown, Monongalia County

You can get an early look at the 2009-2010 West Virginia University men's and women's basketball teams Friday night during Mountaineer Madness at the Coliseum in Morgantown.

Events start at 6:30 p.m. with an autograph session on the Coliseum Concourse.  Everything moves to the floor at 8:30 on Friday night where the teams will be introduced and Head Coaches Bob Huggins and Mike Carey will speak.

Both teams are set to scrimmage for about ten minutes.

Coach Huggins admits his team is dealing with a lot of great expectations this season.  The Mountaineer Men are picked to win the Big East Conference and could make the preseason Top 10 when the polls come out in November.

"That's the way it's supposed to be," he says.  "I would hope that this kind of thing happens every year, that we're good enough to be mentioned to be able to win the Big East every year.  As I've said many times, if you can win the Big East, you can win a National Championship."

The Mountaineer Men will also unveil a new uniform on Friday night, a fourth option to add to the available uniforms the team already has.

Huggins says potential recruits often ask him about uniforms.  "We're going to be on national TV 18 times (this season), so I think everybody will be very familiar with them, anybody who watches TV anyway."

Mountaineer Madness is free and open to the general public.
