Conservative Women To Meet In Morgantown
Staff
MetroNews Talkline

Conservative women are looking for a voice in the Mountain State. A new group trying to help these women express their views will have its second meeting in Morgantown Sunday.

Conservative Women of West Virginia will feature Congresswoman Cynthia Lummis and former Colorado Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave, both Republicans, as guest speakers.

Musgrave, who now works for the Susan B. Anthony List, appeared on MetroNews Talkline recently. She says she can understand the struggles of conservative women during this time.

"There's a template that the left has used to attack conservative women. For whatever reason, they hate us. If we are pro-life, pro-marriage, good on fiscal issues, good on Second Amendment rights, they hate us and they come after us with a passion," Musgrave said.

The meeting on Sunday will focus on how women can run for elected office and affect public policy. Musgrave says there will be plenty of opportunity for those women in the upcoming 2010 elections.

"As a Republican, I can tell you that our party disappointed conservatives, the Democrats are driving conservatives crazy, and we're seeing things happen around this country, organic movement of the people speaking out, talking about what is being done in Washington, D.C. and how disgusted they are with it," Musgrave said.

The event at Greer Mansion Sunday is by invitation only.
