A Grant County man is in custody after allegedly setting fires at Smoke Hole Caverns last week.
Sheriff's deputies arrested Brent Michael Combs, 24, of Cabins late Tuesday night and charged him with first and second-degree arson and three counts of arson causing injury.
The separate blazes destroyed the tourist attraction's restaurant and gift shop.
The first fire was set the night of Nov. 10, while the second came a few hours later on Nov. 11.
The criminal complaint says a bottle of malt alcohol and two wooden matchsticks were found at the scene along with some dog hair. The investigating officer says he later determined Combs had been at the North Fork Depot to purchase malt alcohol and $20.00 of gas the night of the fire. The clerk says he usually only purchased $5.00 at a time.
Investigators later executed a search warrant on Combs' home and found matches matching the ones found at the fire scene and a Siberian Husky who had hair like that found at the fire scene.
The deputy brought Combs in for questioning late last week, but after reading him his rights he asked for a lawyer.
Combs is being held in the Potomac Highlands Regional Jail on $285,000 bail.
Two volunteer firefighters and a deputy sheriff were injured while battling the blaze.
