Sheriff Reports Two Sightings After Charleston Man Left Glenville Bar

The search goes on in Gilmer County for a missing Charleston man.

Twenty-nine year old Frederick Hill hasn't been seen since Friday and the only trace of him found, at this point, is his company truck.  It was located in the Glenville area last week.

"He's vanished," said Glenville Fire Department Assistant Chief Martin Hess.  "Nobody's seen nothing or knows nothing."

Crews have put a great emphasis on the Little Kanawha River.

"We're looking in the river and broadening our search out around the town of Glenville," Hess told MetroNews on Tuesday.  "Nobody really knows for sure if the river's the right place.  We're just trying to cover every avenue that we can."

Hess says they don't have a lot to go on.  Hill was in the area working as a contractor for a local gas company.  He'd driven from Charleston to the area in the company vehicle and his personal vehicle remains undisturbed in Charleston where he left it.

Hill was last seen at a Glenville bar Friday night. Reports indicate he was asked to leave the establishment.

"His family has been extremely strong.  My heart goes out to them," Hess said. "We're doing everything that we can possibly do.  We're bringing in new eyes and thoughts every day to see if we need to do something different, but so far everybody says we're doing everything they can think of that we need to do."

The fire department and Gilmer County Sheriff's Department have been coordinating the search effort.

Deputies have canvassed the town several times asking if anybody has seen or heard from Hill.  That search is now broadening out from Glenville and into other parts of Gilmer County.

"We really have nothing to go on, but I'm sure that once this thing is over and done we'll find him," said Hess.  "We're not going to give up, we're going to see this thing through until we're finished with it."
