The sister of a missing Charleston man is praying for a miracle, but fears the worst.
Renee Hill is in Glenville helping Gilmer County emergency crews search for her brother 29-year-old Freddie Hill. He was last seen Friday night when he was asked to leave the Trezans Bar in Glenville.
"The stories conflict as to why he went out the backdoor, but he did and vanished into thin air," Hill told MetroNews Tuesday.
Hill is hoping for a wonderful end to the story, but knows that may not happen. "I think more likely someone in this town knows something and something's been done to him," she said. "And I want anybody that knows anything that please...it's time to stop torturing our family and let us know."
Freddie Hill graduated from Nitro High School and West Virginia State. He worked outside of West Virginia for a time, but returned earlier this year so he could spend time with his ailing father. His sister says for him to disappear for a few days is totally out of character.
"He has a strong sense of responsibility. A strong moral code and is really close to his family," she said. "That's not a person that takes off and disappears for a week and doesn't tell anyone he's okay."
Freddie Hill was in Glenville with coworker. They were doing contract work for a gas company. His cell phone was left charging in the company truck when he disappeared.
His sister says waiting is the most difficult. She just hopes someone comes forward. "Even if this has a horrible ending that's still better than living the rest of our lives with not knowing," she said.
Hill says the last few months have been a particularly difficult time for her family. She says three family members and a close friend have died.
The Gilmer County Sheriff's Dept. is handling the investigation.
