The Final Push

The Request Is In
The Glasgow Fire Department has received an overwhelming amount of support after losing one of its members in the flood waters of Raleigh County over the weekend.

Fire Chief Marty Blankenship says crews from around West Virginia have offered their support while they're dealing with the loss of 32-year-old Donnie Adkins.

"They're really here for us to lean on and they're real strong about supporting us," says Blankenship.

Adkins was swept away by swift water last Saturday while he and other members of the department were rescuing people in the Beaver Creek area. Firefighters from around Kanawha County have joined together with the Glasgow Fire Department in traveling to Raleigh County hoping to find Adkins. Meanwhile, crews from Boone, Jackson, Putnam and Kanawha Counties have been handling the calls in Glasgow.

"The bond that we have, words just can't explain it," Blankenship says about his fellow firefighters.

The search for Adkins is expected to resume Thursday morning. In the mean time, Chief Blankenship is asking that the community keep the family of Donnie Adkins and the searchers in their prayers.
