The Capitol Food Court will close down temporarily on Friday as it transitions over to a state operation.
The state allowed the original operators, Guest Services, to leave its contract two years earlier than expected. The company said the venture became unprofitable after Capitol staff and others working on the grounds claimed the price of the food was too high.
Diane Holley-Brown with the Department of Administration says that is something the state is keeping in mind as it takes on the workload there.
"Pricing will be an important factor and of course, we don't want to sacrifice taste or portion," she says.
Right now , Holley-Brown says the state is trying to find a formula that will work for the facility.
"We're looking at different menu options in terms of whether to keep the food court type of offerings or to go back to more of a cafeteria style. Those plans are still being finalized."
