Florida State offensive coordinator and coach in waiting says he's not interested in returning to his home state.
Rumors are swirling that Jimbo Fisher is high on West Virginia's list to replace Rich Rodriguez, but the Harrison County native says he'll stay at FSU.
"I'm here," Fisher told the Palm Beach Post in today's edition. "I'm at Florida State. I haven't talked to anybody at West Virginia."
Fisher signed a contract late last week that insures he will take over as head coach at Florida State when Bobby Bowden retires, no later than 2011.
Florida State will pay Fisher $2.5 million if he is not made head coach by January of 2011. Fisher will pay the university $2.5 million if he leaves in the middle of the contract. Fisher's new deal boosts his salary to $625,000 annually. But he is prohibited from attempts to "seek, solicit, invite, discuss, entertain, interview for or accept any offer" to coach at any other university or professional organization.
